「さくら」は、日本の花。万葉の昔から人々に愛され、親しまれてきました。その観賞、愛育の歴史は、わが国の文化の発生と歩みをともにしています。
日本さくらの会は、昭和39年(1964年）東京オリンピック開催の年に日本の花「さくら」の愛護、保存、 育成、普及等を目的に設立し､39年目を迎えました。設立当時の日本の桜は、急激な開発や公害､保護管理の放任等により、全国的に桜が衰退し、悲惨な状況にあり、その復興が急務となっていました。
日本さくらの会は、設立以来、桜の植樹や愛護、桜名所の保全、名木・巨木保存、また、桜を通じた国際親善事業を実施しています。「さくらの日」の制定、「さくら功労者」の表彰、「さくら祭り中央大会」 や「サクラ研究発表会」の開催ほか、桜に関するあらゆる相談、情報の提供を行なっています。
役員は、理事16名、監事2名、評議員37名、会員は47都道府県、1,293市区町村、166団体、個人656名。
Cherry Blossoms
are the Japanese National Flower and represent our spirit. People
have treasured and admired cherry blossoms for centuries and
they reflect our unique history and culture.
The Japan Cherry Blossom Association was established in 1964,
the year of the Tokyo Olympic games, to protect existing cherry
trees and encourage the planting of cherry trees in Japan and
around the World. At that time it was apparent that the cherry
trees were being damaged by air pollution and development.
JCBA is proud of the work it has done over the past 39 years
in planting and protecting the trees and building international
friendships.
