こんにちは、第29代さくらプリンセスの金子暖佳です。
11月20日にホノルルさくらの女王・プリンセスの歓迎会を
行いました。ホノルルさくらの女王・プリンセスは、
「ホノルルさくら祭り」で日系女性を対象に選出されます。
女王・プリンセスのお話によると、武道、茶道、書道、
着物の知識など数々の日本文化を半年に渡って勉強するそうです。
当日は、女王さくらさんとまりんさんでハワイの
伝統衣装ムームーを着てお出迎えしました。ハワイからは
4名の女王・プリンセスがいらっしゃいました。
歓迎会では、まず初めにホノルルさくらの女王
サマンサさんが日本語で一生懸命スピーチしてくださり、
訪問国を尊重する姿勢に感銘を受けました。
その後、ホノルルの女王・プリンセスが
フラダンスを披露し、簡単なフラダンスを
体験することができました。実際に踊ってみると、
歌詞に合わせて波を表す動きや、赤子を抱くように
家族を表す動きなど、1つ1つの動きに意味が
込められていることに気が付きました。
更に歴代の日本さくらの女王が日本舞踊を披露し、
最後は参加者全員で円になって盆踊りを行いました。
今年8月に起きたマウイ島での山火事の復興寄付の
募金も行いました。ニュースや新聞で山火事によって
焼野原になってしまった様子を見て、私自身も
ショックを受けました。地震が頻繁に起こる日本で、
自然災害の恐ろしさを改めて感じるきっかけになりました。
マウイ島の皆さんが少しでも元の生活に戻ることが
できることを祈っております。
Hello, I am Haruka Kaneko, the 29th Japan Sakura Princess.
On November 20th, we held a welcome party for the Honolulu
Sakura Queen and Princess. The Honolulu Sakura Queen and
Princess are selected for Japanese-Hawaiian women at the Honolulu
Sakura Festival. They study some Japanese cultures such as
arts, tea ceremony, calligraphy, and kimono knowledge for six months.
On the day of the event, we welcomed them wearing traditional
Hawaiian costumes, Muumuu with Japan Sakura Queen, Sakura
and Marin. There were four queens and princesses from Hawaii.
At the welcome party, Samantha, the Hawaii Sakura queen,
gave a speech in Japanese, and I was impressed by her attitude
of respecting Japan. After that, queen and princess performed
a hula dance, and we were able to experience a simple hula dance.
When I danced, I realized that each movement had a meaning,
such as the movement to represent the waves according to the
lyrics, or the movement to represent the family like holding a baby.
In addition, Etsuko, the previous Japan Sakura queen performed
Japanese traditional dance and Bon Dance（Japanese traditional
dance), and at the end, all participants danced Bon Odori in the circle.
In the middle of the event, we raised funds for the reconstruction
of the wildfires in Maui Island that occurred in August this year.
I was shocked to see on the news and in the newspapers
how the wildfires had swept away. In Japan, a continent where
earthquakes occur frequently, I feel the horror of natural disasters
once again. I pray that everyone on Maui Island will be able to
return to their normal lives as much as possible.
